Mozart Symphony No.16 in C major (K.128) (Full Score)

Today the autograph scores for the seven symphonies K.128, 129, 130, 132, 133, 134 and 141 are all located in the Staatsbibliothek Preussischer Kulturbesitz, Berlin.  This special outburst of symphonic activity in 1772 was surely related to the accession of the new prince-bishop of Salzburg, Count Hieronymus Colloredo, who was officially installed on 29 April 1772.  Neal Zaslaw, in Mozart’s Symphonies (Oxford, 1989), assumes that Mozart wanted not only to elicit the approval of the new ruler but also to create a fresh supply of symphonies for his third and last Italian journey, which lasted from October 1772 to March 1773 and took him to Milan for the Carnival season and a new opera, Lucio Silla (K.135).
