Mozart Symphony No.13 in F major (K.112) (Full Score)
The Symphony in F major K.112 has come down to us in an autograph score (Pierpont Morgan Library, New York), dated “del Sign:re Cavaliere Amadeo Wolfgango Mozart à Milano 2 di Novemb. 1771" in Leopold Mozart’s hand. It was thus completed shortly after the successful performances of Ascanio in Alba, K.111 and is associated with Mozart’s encounter with Johann Adolf Hasse and his hopes for an appointment from Archduke Ferdinand, for whose wedding Mozart had originally been commissioned to write Ascanio in Alba.
The minuet of the symphony is in the hand of Mozart’s father, as are the name of its composer and the date of composition. The trio, on the other hand, was written out by Mozart himself. As there are no irregularities in the gatherings of the autograph at this point, the minuet was probably not added at a later date. Either Wolfgang had already written it out elsewhere and Leopold merely copied it into the score of the symphony, or it is Leopold’s composition altogether.
