Feld Sonatina for Two Violins

Sonatina for two violins by Jindřich Feld (b. 1925) was written in 1952-1953.  The composer dedicated it to his parents, who, as he often states, introduced him to the secrets of music.  The instrumental revision was carried out by the composer's father, Prof. Jindřich Feld (violin teacher and professor at the Prague Conservatory, with whom Feld studied violin and viola) shortly before his death.

It was first performed by Josef Vlach and Václav Snítil in 1954 and is J. Feld's first published composition. This edition makes no changes and also follows the original revision, the composer only adding metronomic data.  The Sonatina is one of the favourite pieces of many violin duets and, because of its instrumental appreciation, is also included among the compulsory pieces for competitions in playing two violins.
