Chedeville Six galant Duos for two equal melodic instruments especially Descant Recorders (Playing Score)

Esprit Philippe Chédeville (1696–1762), court bagpiper to King Louis of France, published a collection of his own compositions toward the middle of the 18th century, of which six “Duos galants pour deux musettes, vielles et autres instruments” are contained in the present publication.

Although the present suites were also composed for “other instruments”, their pronounced wind-like character is best rendered by flutes, oboes or clarinets.  They are also extremely suitable though for performance on two recorders.  For this reason, all the Duos have been transposed down a fourth to suit the descant recorder’s range.
