Mozart Serenade in D major (K.239) (Serenata notturna) (Full Score)

The reason for the composition of the Serenade in D major K.239 is unknown.  Written in January 1776 it is scored for two small orchestras, the first consisting of soloists: two violins, viola and bass, and the other of two violins, viola, cello and timpani.  The name "Serenata notturna" was given by Mozart's father, Leopold, who wrote the title at the top of his son's manuscript.
