for 2 oboes, 2 recorders, bassoon, strings and basso continuo

The careful, almost faultless transcription of the parts in Christoph Graupner’s hand suggests that this Overture was written for the public concerts which Telemann regularly held with the Collegium Musicum in the Frauenstein Palace on the Römerberg in Frankfurt on the Main, between Michaelmas and Easter.  The marked humour of some of the movements also seems to point to these concerts.
