Claus-Steffen Mahnkopf (b.1962) is a German composer, author and editor graduating from the music academy in Freiburg in 1992.  Since 2005 he has taught composition at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig.  He has composed in all genres garnering international prizes and awards with performances by renowned groups.  As an author he has produced numerous essays and books and edits the journal Musik & Ästhetik.
