Mozart's variations on "Ah, vous dirai-je Maman", the melody of "Tomorrow comes Father Christmas", which are particularly popular at Christmas time, inspired James Helme Sutcliffe to compose this collection.
The variations on eleven well-known German Christmas carols, arranged in increasing degrees of difficulty, can be mastered in their technical demands even by less experienced players. And if one or the other variations seems a little difficult today, it can be played effortlessly next year.
The melodies printed in the edition with underlaid text and following verses create the connection between singing and playing that is so important with Christmas carols.
