Martinu Duo Concertant for Two Violins H 264 (Two Violins & Piano)

Bohuslav Martinu (1880 - 1959) was a Czech violinist and prolific composer.  He left his home town of Policka in 1906 for Prague and later studied formal composition under Josef Suk.  In 1923 he left for Paris and it was here in 1937 that he composed the Duo Concertant for 2 Violins and Orchestra.

It is a 3 movement work in the concerto grosso style and although little known, offers much melodically.
