Fiser Crux (set of parts)
Luboš Fišer's composition Crux was written in 1970, the same year as his Double for orchestra or Lamentation over the destruction of the city of Ur. In all three works Fišer is still faithful to the techniques of New Music. Ideologically, Crux is a kind of protest against the advancing normalisation of the early 1970s. Formally, it is a variation of a theme composed of eleven notes. These variations take place over an ostinato of the same timpani motif, which periodically intensifies from pianissimo to fortissimo throughout the piece.
The autograph of the composition was published with the kind permission of Ivan Štraus, who also premiered the work in 1971 together with Petr Šprunk on drums.
