Handel Concerto for Harp in B-flat Major Op.4/6 (HWV 294) (Full Score)
The concerto HWV 294 was composed for performance in the ode Alexander’s Feast, or the Power of Musick, which was premiered on 19 February 1736. A complete organ continuo part, including one for this concerto, was prepared for Alexander’s Feast, possibly by Handel himself. No autograph of it is extant, but it survives in a reliable copy and is included in the present edition.
According to the printed word-book for Alexander’s Feast, the concerto is “for the Harp, Lute, Lyrichord and other Instruments”; in the organ continuo part it is described as “Concerto per il Liuto e l’Harpa”.
The score comes complete with a description of the sources and performance suggestions (German/English).
