Concertino Pastorale (Full Score)
Eben, Petr
Eben Concertino Pastorale (Full Score)
scored for Flute, Oboe, Clarinet and String Ensemble (3 each Violin I, II, III; 2x Viola; 2x Violoncello; 1x Double Bass).
The Christmas-themed Concertino pastorale for children's instrumental ensemble was written by Petr Eben (1929-2007) in 1963. The original scoring consisted of three soloists and a violin ensemble but could be adapted depending on what was available.
In 1997, he revised the score, expanding the accompaniment to include a string orchestra and designating the solo instruments as sonically contrasting flute, oboe and clarinet. The three solo violins were retained as an alternative. The definitive version of the Concertina pastorale is not only for children's or amateur ensembles as the work has also become popular in the repertoire of professional ensembles.
A complete set of solo and orchestral parts can be purchased as print-on-demand to accompany the score.
